KATMANDU, Nepal — Nepal’s king will have 15 days to leave the palace after his throne is abolished, officials said today, hours before an expected declaration of the nation as a republic.

King Gyanendra has been silent as leading politicians have threatened to remove him by force if he refused to go peacefully.

Bimalendra Nidhi of the centrist Nepali Congress made his comments about the king after his party met with former rebels, the Maoists, who hold the most seats in the assembly and are expected to lead the country’s new government.
