Front Range commuters could hit areas of fog on the drive this morning but it’s expected to clear out and skies today over Denver should be mostly sunny.

Northeastern Colorado will stand a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, some with gusty winds and hail, the National Weather Service reports.

Fog this morning, including over the I-25 corridor from Denver to Loveland and east into Greeley, is expected to last until about 8 a.m., the weather service said. Visibilities will vary greatly and may be reduced to less than a quarter of a mile at times.

The weather service has issued a red flag warning for fire dangers in southern Colorado today from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. along the I-25 corridor and into the eastern mountains where possible severe afternoon thunderstorms, with 60 mph winds, could unleash lightning sparked fires. Warm weather and dried-out ground cover will fuel fire threats in the area, including in Baca and Prowers counties.

Flood warnings continue today on the Western Slope for portions of several rivers including the Yampa River from Debeque to Silt and the Dolores River in southwestern Colorado.

Today’s high temperature in Denver should be about 87 degrees, the weather service said, with winds out of the southwest gusting up to 25 mph.

Friday in Denver should be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 79 degrees. Overnight lows in Denver tonight and tomorrow should be about 50 degrees.
