NEW YORK — A life preserver from the ill-fated RMS Titanic is going on the auction block next month in Manhattan. It is one of about six thought to have survived to this day.
Christie’s auction house says it is the first one to be offered at auction in the United States. It is expected to fetch $60,000 to $80,000 at the June 25 sale.
The vest was found during the initial recovery effort after the April 14, 1912, disaster.
