FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins firefighters have found the body of a woman inside a house where two fires were burning.
Firefighters discovered the body of Valerie A. Gendernalik, 26, as well as one of the fires in an upstairs bedroom after a neighbor called 911 this morning. The second fire was found in the basement.
Coroner Debbie Reisdorff said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the left side of Gendernalik’s face.
Davis says one cat died in the fire while another cat and a small dog were unharmed.
The home is at 1610 Westbridge Drive.
