DENVER—Colorado billionaire and philanthropist Pat Stryker is the major financial backer of the fight against an anti-affirmative action proposal on the November ballot.
Financial reports filed Monday show that Stryker has contributed $50,000 to the campaign called Vote No on Amendment 46. Stryker has donated to Democratic candidates in the past.
The ballot proposal would eliminate affirmative-action programs in state hiring, contracting and education.
The group behind the ballot measure, the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative Committee, reported no contributions over the past month and $1,924 in the bank in a filing Monday.
