Kirk Archibeque, a 6-foot-9 center, transferred to NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College after playing three seasons at Northern Colorado, Fort Lewis announced.
Archibeque, who averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds over 96 games for the Bears, will return to the Western Slope for his final year of eligibility. He graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in Cortez in 2003.

Northern Colorado baseball players Chad Murray (a senior first baseman) and junior designated hitter Kevin Sandberg were named Division I first-team all-Independent after a vote of coaches and sports information directors.
• UNC pitchers Jason Banks and Jon Klausing, shortstop Cory Morales and center fielder Anthony Garcia, all seniors, were named to the Independent all-tournament team after the Bears went 3-1 to tie for the championship.
Buchanan named MWC chairman.
The Mountain West Conference board of directors selected University of Wyoming president Tom Buchanan as the chairman for the 2008-09 academic year. Air Force Academy superintendent Lt. Gen. John Regni, New Mexico president David Schmidly and Texas Christian chancellor Victor Boschini also will serve on the executive committee.
