DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche signed sixth-round draft pick Derek Peltier, the University of Minnesota’s captain last year, to an entry-level contract.
Peltier led the Gophers in scoring last season with 21 points (four goals, 17 assists) while playing in all 45 games.
After the college season ended, the 23-year-old Peltier played for the Avs’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, where he scored one assist in six games.
