GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A former Grand Junction grade school teacher previously convicted on theft and drug charges is being ordered to serve four years in community corrections in a related case.

Forty-three-year-old Tammie Lee Reed appeared in a Mesa County courtroom Wednesday. She was convicted in April on felony charges of lying to a court official and violating conditions of her bond.

The charges stemmed from her sentencing for methamphetamine possession.

Reed told a judge last summer she wanted to travel to Nevada for her daughter’s wedding. But the girl, 17-year-old Casey Carroll of Reno, testified she had no plans to get married.

Mesa County District Judge Brian Flynn said he decided against prison time for Reed because she’d taken many positive steps in the past year.
