Staff Sgt. Jorge Barba, a 28-year-old airman, died after he was involved in an auto crash Wednesday.
Barba, an Air Force dental laboratory journeyman with the 21st Dental Squadron, died at the scene on Highway 94 and Marksheffel Road, according to a Peterson Air Force Base news release.
“The 21st Space Wing is a family, and yesterday we lost one of our own,” Col. Jay Raymond, the wing’s commander, said in a statement. “I extend my deepest personal condeolences to Sgt. Barba’s family, friends and his co-workers.”
Barba has been on active duty since March 2001.
The accident is under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Deparment.
