Getting your player ready...

It was a night of firsts for pitcher Greg Reynolds.

The Rockies’ 21-year-old rookie right-hander picked up his first major-league victory, collected his first major-league hit, a double in the second inning, and started his first major-league double play that ended a tough spot in the second inning.

“There was a first for a lot of things,” Reynolds said. “It was fun. It definitely was everything I thought it would be. I’m excited to get the first win over with. Throwing five runs up in the first inning with two outs was big. That made my job a lot easier.”

Stewart’s blast fair.

A towering shot by the Rockies’ Ian Stewart in the fifth inning had everyone talking. Stewart had to wait at first base for the ruling from umpire Lance Barksdale that the drive was in fair territory when it went over the foul pole.

“I waited a little bit. I thought it went over the foul pole,” Stewart said. “It didn’t hook a lot. The umpire thought so too. He called it fair.”
