Rockies left fielder Matt Holliday got a hit every time up Saturday night in his rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs, going 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, two runs and two RBIs. The Sky Sox had 16 hits overall and beat the visiting Salt Lake Bees 8-4 in a Pacific Coast League game.

Franklin Morales was the starting pitcher for the Sky Sox, giving up four runs, seven hits and four walks in four innings. Cedrick Bowers (3-1) earned the win with three innings of shutout relief.

Right fielder Christopher Frey also went 4-for-4 for the Sky Sox. Frey is hitting .322.

Crush extends losing streak .

James MacPherson threw 10 touchdown passes, helping the Grand Rapids Rampage defeat the visiting Colorado Crush 84-65 in an Arena Football League game.

MacPherson completed 35-of-43 passes for 388 yards for the Rampage (4-10). Grand Rapids’ Chris Johnson finished with 11 catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns and Cole Magner contributed 13 catches for 111 yards and three touchdowns.

John Dutton threw eight touchdown passes and ran for a TD for the Crush (4-10), which has lost five consecutive games and seven of its last eight.

Outlaws handle road test.

Matt Hanna scored six goals, including two during a key run in the second quarter, to help the Denver Outlaws win their second straight game 16-13 over the Los Angeles Riptide in a Major League Lacrosse game in Carson, Calif.

Hanna’s two goals during a 4-1 run gave Denver a 6-2 lead.

The Riptide (2-2) cut its deficit to 9-7 in the third quarter with the help of three goals from Jesse Hubbard. Los Angeles closed to within 16-13 with 6:25 left to play, but the Outlaws’ defense stiffened.

Ryan Powell contributed a goal and five assists for Denver (3-1).

Mitchell, Katte chosen top coaches.

The National High School Coaches Association on Saturday named two Colorado coaches as national coaches of the year: Warren Mitchell, the boys track and field coach at Limon High School, and Dick Katte, the boys basketball coach at Denver Christian.

The 85-year-old Mitchell just completed his 55th season as track coach, and also coached football for 37 years. Katte, 71, in February became the 10th active coach in the nation with 800 victories.
