If Landon Donovan plays today against Argentina, FIFA’s No. 1-ranked team, at Giants Stadium, the U.S. star will become the fourth-youngest soccer player in the world to make 100 international appearances. Donovan will be 26 years, 3 months, 4 days today. According to the U.S. Soccer Federation, the only younger players to make 100 appearances were South Korea’s Cha Bum-Kun, who was 24 when he reached 100 in 1977, and Saudi Arabia’s Sami Al-Jaber and Mohammed Al-Deayea, who were each 25 in 1998. Donovan, the leading career goal-scorer for the U.S. with 35, has missed the team’s last two games with a groin injury. The Associated Press
