DENVER — Barack Obama has named his campaign’s political director to represent him on the committee overseeing operations for the Democratic National Convention.
Obama’s campaign announced the new role for political director Matthew Nugen on Sunday.
During the primary campaign season, Nugen served as the chief liaison to elected officials, labor groups and political leaders during the primary season. He’s set to arrive in Denver on Monday to begin working with convention staff and the host committee.
Obama is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee but it won’t become official until party members gather for their convention in Denver this August.
