Boho Vineyards 2006 Central Coast Chardonnay ($24, 3-liter box)
Lighter than glass bottles, boxes use less energy to make and to transport. Boho capitalizes on the trend, touting the eco-friendliness of its recycled-paper package printed with soy-based ink. It would be cool if the wine inside were organically grown and produced in a solar-powered winery, but, hey, we’ll take what we can get. Boho’s chardonnay is a refreshingly straightforward white with light pineapple flavors and just a gloss of vanilla. Stick it in the fridge for an occasional after-work pour — the bag inside the box makes sure it will last well for weeks. At $24 a box, it works out to the equivalent of $6 a bottle, and it’s going for $15.98 at Westminster Total Beverage this week. Tara Q. Thomas,
