BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Fire investigators in Broomfield are trying to determine who set a fire outside a Safeway store, forcing its evacuation and closure for the night.
The fire was reported about 9:30 p.m. Monday at 3600 West 144th Ave., after a neighbor spotted flames on the side of the building. Fire crews found the blaze burning in trash and wood pallets.
North Metro Fire Rescue District spokeswoman Wendy Forbes says the fire caused minimal damage to the building’s brick exterior.
The fire was contained to the outside of the building, and no one was hurt.
The store reopened for business Tuesday morning.
