DENVER—Frontier Airlines is now charging travelers $25 for a second checked bag.
The new charge took effect today. Frontier announced the move last month as part of its efforts to cover rising fuel costs.
Customers who buy tickets on or after today will have to pay the charge. People who bought their tickets earlier won’t pay for a second checked bag.
Denver-based Frontier is also reducing aircraft fuel burn and using new flight planning computer software to track fuel and flights to save fuel.
