Thieves have pilfered more than 2000 feet of copper wire and tools worth $40,000 from a Western Area Power Association substation east of Pierce.
The robbers broke into a trailer and building on the property sometime between June 5 and June 9, according to Weld County undersheriff Margie Martinez.
