DENVER—The family of New Mexico artist Luis Jimenez say they are proud to have finished his horse sculpture that stands along the road leading to Denver International Airport.

Jimenez died in 2006 while working on the 32-foot-high fiberglass sculpture, called “Mustang.” He was 65 when a section of the sculpture came loose from a hoist and pinned him against a steel support beam.

His family finished the bright blue, horse with red eyes. It was officially dedicated Thursday.

Jimenez’s widow, Susan Jimenez, was among those attending the dedication. She said the family hopes the artist lives on in the sculpture.
