Fire danger remains high in southern Colorado today where hot, dry weather and gusty winds are expected.

The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag fire warning for a wide part of southern Colorado including Teller, El Paso, Fremont, Pueblo and Las Animas counties from noon until 9 p.m.

The warning also includes the San Luis Valley and the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains.

In northeastern and north central Colorado thunderstorms — with lots of wind, possible lightning and little rain — could strike this afternoon into this evening, the Weather Service reports.

There will be a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Denver this afternoon as the high temperature peaks at about 72 degrees, the Weather Service said.

Tomorrow should be sunny in the city with a high temperature of about 82 degrees.
