Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy India Pale Ale, $8.49 a six-pack
Looking to add a little fiber to your diet? When the folks at Boulder’s Twisted Pine Brewing Co. say they produce unfiltered ales, they mean it. Hoppy Boy yields a golden-amber pour that’s not only cloudy but is populated by bits of sediment the size of grains of sand. Don’t let that scare you off, though — it’s texturally unnoticeable in the mouth and, as typical of our summer selections, highly drinkable. The head is a nice, creamy off-white, not too deep, and leaves only slight lacing. As the name implies, this is a hoppy ale, a modern IPA with quite a bit of greenness (especially to the nose), a hint of lemon and a healthy dollop of bitterness at the back of the tongue. The grassiness and citrus make this a good summer refresher and session drinker. Alcohol by volume 6 percent. Twisted Pine Brewing Co., 3201 Walnut St., Boulder; . By Marcus Chamberland; .
