Sempra Energy, owner of the largest U.S. natural-gas utility, agreed to purchase a 25 percent stake in the proposed Sunstone Pipeline to ship natural gas from the hub at Opal, Wyo., to the Pacific Northwest. The project is expected online in 2011.
Sempra also will contract for “a significant amount” of the 1.2 billion cubic feet of daily capacity on Sunstone, a venture of Williams Cos. and TransCanada Corp.
