Ingredients

4      slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces

1      onion, chopped

1      head cabbage, cut into six wedges

       Salt and pepper to taste

1-2     cups chicken broth

1/4   cup apple cider vinegar

1/4   cup brown sugar

       Dash Tabasco, if desired

Directions

Cook bacon pieces until crisp. Remove them from skillet and set aside. Cook onion in bacon grease until tender. Add cabbage along with salt and pepper to taste. Add chicken broth (or water or combination) and cook 45 minutes to 1 hour.

After about a half-hour, add vinegar and brown sugar and continue cooking until cabbage is tender.

Sprinkle with crisp bacon before serving.
