WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice plans to visit the earthquake-devastated region in China this month, the State Department said Thursday.
Rice, who would become the highest-level U.S. official to tour the area, plans to meet with Chinese government officials and representatives of aid organizations in the quake-damaged city of Cheng du, department spokesman Tom Casey said.
Rice’s June 29 visit would come near the end of a trip to Europe and Asia.
