An 18-year-old man identified as Andrew Viar was arrested Thursday morning by Colorado Springs police after he allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old multiple times during a pre-arranged fight.

Police said the fight, which occurred in the street at 6300 Windom Peak Boulevard, was witnessed by a number of teenagers.

An investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect made plans by phone, through a third party, “to engage in a fight at this location,” said the police.

Officers arrived at the scene at 12:17 a.m. Thursday, where they found the victim awake and sitting on the curb of the street. He told officers he was not aware he had been stabbed until the fight was over.

He was taken to Penrose Hospital with five stab wounds to the torso and neck and was listed in stable condition after undergoing exploratory surgery.

Viar was arrested about 7:50 a.m., about seven hours after the stabbing.

In addition, a 17-year-old, whose name was not released by authorities because he is a juvenile, was arrested for investigation of being an accessory to a crime.

Bail was set at $25,000 for Viar. The juvenile is being held at Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center.
