DENVER—About 25 people are gathered outside of Denver’s Coca-Cola bottling plant to call on the company to end the genocide in Darfur.
It’s part of a string of protests across the country targeting companies who are sponsoring this summer’s Olympic games in China.
The protesters want Coca-Cola to pressure China to push for an end to genocide in the troubled region of Sudan. China has oil interests in Sudan.
Other companies that have been targets of protests include General Electric, Swatch and Volkswagen. The protesters in Denver include refugees from Darfur and members of the Jewish community and local churches.
