Denver District Judge William Robbins on Monday ordered arbitration in a case involving the sale of Exempla Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge and Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System.
The Sisters of Charity has proposed a $311 million purchase. Exempla’s current board sued to block private arbitration, citing “overriding public importance.”
The new Catholic management would end abortions, vasectomies and other such services based on faith.
