Xcel Energy proposed Tuesday to roll its voluntary Windsource program into its existing renewable-energy portfolio.

The move would allow the company to purchase wind power in bulk for a program in which customers pay a premium to receive their power from wind sources.

Xcel said it is cost-prohibitive to purchase wind power for the program in small increments, as it has done in the past.
