Getting your player ready...

Just when you think Barry Bonds is in the rearview mirror, some media person raises the question as to why a team doesn’t sign him, even if only as a pinch hitter/designated hitter. I find that no one seems to realize Bonds hasn’t faced major-league pitching in nearly eight months!

To think that Barry will meander to home plate and be the same hitter he’s been is beyond ludicrous. This is a 40ish athlete. And to want to bring him on board with all the hype, media circus, court dates and other disruptions would wreak havoc on most teams, who by now probably have accepted life without Bonds as a blessing.

Bonds was indeed a player of nearly unequaled ability. The key word here is “was.”
