TEHRAN, IRAN — Iran’s official IRNA news agency is reporting that officials are still reviewing an international package of economic incentives designed to get Tehran to curb its nuclear program.
IRNA quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki as saying Iran was studying the package “carefully and strongly.” Mottaki says in Sunday’s IRNA report that Iran would give an answer when the review is finished.
But he also dismisses a call made Friday by G-8 foreign ministers to abandon its nuclear program.
The packaged is designed to get Iran to suspend uranium enrichment. It was presented to Tehran earlier this month.
The United States and some allies fear Iran wants to produce nuclear weapons — a claim Iran denies.
