JEFFERSON COUNTY — A Jefferson County jury has awarded Sandra Simmons $1.4 million in a case against General Steel Corp., a Lakewood company that sells steel buildings.
Simmons, a former controller for the company, was fired Jan. 13, 2003, in retaliation for reporting improprieties in the company’s financial practices, her lawyers, Mari Newman and Darold Killmer, said Monday.
