The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and North American Grouse Partnership have asked the U.S. Department of Interior to undertake landscape conservation measures for sage grouse habitat on Bureau of Land Management lands.
Sage grouse are being considered for protection under the Endangered Species Act. The two conservation groups said they want BLM to better manage grouse during the energy development surge on public land to avert endangered listing.
BLM was requested to utilize the best possible information regarding the impact of oil and gas development on sage grouse, along with interim protections pending development of a better strategy.
