COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Military officials say 20-year-old Army Spc. Kacey Day was the Fort Carson soldier killed when his car collided with another vehicle at the Army post.
The accident early Sunday also injured two people. Day was from Camas, Wash.
Fort Carson spokeswoman Karen Linne told The Denver Post the crash happened after military police tried to stop Day for erratic driving on the post. Linne says Day failed to stop and police followed him off the military post, where he crashed with another car.
A female passenger in Day’s car was injured, as well as the other car’s driver. Their names were not released.
Fort Carson officials say they continue to investigate the accident. They said in a statement Tuesday that they were “deeply saddened” by Day’s death and offered condolences to his family.
