Only one lane of South University Boulevard from East Euclid Avenue to East Arapahoe Road is open after a water pipe ruptured.

Denver Water crews are repairing the 18-inch conduit. The break, which occurred at about 12:45 p.m., resulted in a small number of homes going without water for a short time, said water department spokeswoman Stacy Chesney.

“Everyone in the area should have water, at this point,” she said.

The line break left a 24-foot by 20-foot hole in the street, Chesney said.

Repairs are expected to continue through the morning rush hour. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes.
