The Western Union Co. is considering whether to appeal a court ruling that could let Arizona prosecutors seize some money transfers to Mexico.
The Arizona Court of Appeals on Tuesday overturned a lower-court ruling that prevented prosecutors from seizing suspected immigrant-smuggling money flowing from other U.S. states into Mexico.
Western Union, a money- transfer business based in Douglas County, said Wednesday it was disappointed and may appeal.
A lower court had said the money seizures violated constitutional protections on interstate and international commerce and that prosecutors didn’t show that the Western Union customers in question were involved in crimes.
The appeals court said prosecutors had probable cause for the seizures.
