DENVER—Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper says the city probably won’t change the location of a fenced-in demonstration zone for the Democratic National Convention, despite objections from protesters and media groups.
The planned site is about 700 feet from the convention arena. Protesters say that’s too far for them to be seen and heard by delegates.
Some news organizations have said the zone is too close to a media tent and the noise will make it hard for them to do their jobs.
Hickenlooper told The Denver Post editorial board Tuesday that moving the zone would be difficult.
A lawsuit by protest groups seeks to have the zone made larger and moved closer. The case is pending in federal court.
The convention will be at the Pepsi Center Aug. 25-28.
