ESTES PARK, Colo.—Rocky Mountain National Park officials say three people suffered minor burns after being struck by lightning.

Two men and a woman, all from Houston, were thrown to the ground Tuesday when they were struck by lightning near Mills Lake at about 12:20 p.m.

Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said the 46-year-old man and 52-year-old man were burned on their feet. The woman, the wife of the 46-year-old, was burned on her arm.

They had been hiking with a group of eight people—a family of seven and a friend—and all were from Houston. The three were treated at the scene.
