The Colorado Wildlife Commission will set preliminary dates for the 2008-09 waterfowl season and make a final decision regarding proposed restrictions for the lower South Platte River when it meets Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel in Durango.

The 10 a.m. waterfowl discussion will establish overall season dates, pending an Aug. 7 announcement by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the overall national framework.

The commission also will decide whether to launch a test on six state wildlife areas to determine the effects of hunting pressure on lagging harvest rates along the South Platte River.

The agenda also includes a decision on whether to adopt a seasonal rather than the traditional annual calendar structure for small game and fishing licenses.

Landowners wanted.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is seeking landowners who want to lease hunting access for the upcoming small game seasons.

Interested parties are encouraged to attend meetings at the Limon Community Center on Tuesday or Steel Fork Pheasant in Rush on July 16. For more information, call 719-227-5282.
