The Downtown Denver Partnership introduced a program at its annual meeting Wednesday to help retailers fund improvements to their building fronts.
A property owner can apply for up to $20,000 and a tenant up to $5,000, which they would have to match with improvements such as lighting, windows and signs.
The meeting at the Marriott City Center drew a crowd of about 800. Honors given out during the event included:
• The Honorary Partner Award to RBC Capital Markets’ Rus Heise, who has been involved in developing and improving downtown for decades.
• The President’s Award to Service Group Inc. for its employees’ work cleaning downtown streets and sidewalks.
• Volunteer Partner of the Year awards to Sharon Linhart of Linhart Public Relations for promoting and organizing volunteers for the Democratic National Convention; Susan Powers of Urban Ventures LLC for work to increase affordable and student housing in Denver; and Mike Zoellner of RedPeak Properties for work to revitalize and enhance the downtown retail base.
Kim Koehn, president of Corporex Colorado LLC, will take Gene Commander’s place as the partnership chairman for the next year.
