PARK CITY, Utah — Teddy Dupay, who played on Florida’s runner-up basketball team in the 2000 NCAA Tournament, was charged with beating and raping a woman last month at a Utah ski resort.
Dupay acknowledged in court documents that he and the woman got “a little rough” but denied rape. The woman said she and Dupay had a two-year relationship, although it was not clear whether they were still a couple when police were called to a Deer Valley lodge on June 19.
Dupay, 29, was charged last week with felony rape, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. He is to be arraigned Monday in 3rd District Court.
Investigators said the woman had two fractured ribs, bruises on her arm, shoulder and thigh, a swollen left eye and scratches on her back. The woman said Dupay kicked and punched her repeatedly before she was raped, according to court documents. The woman also told officers that Dupay forced her under a desk and told her if she attempted to leave he would kill her and her family.
Ronaldo hints at Manchester U. exit
LISBON, Portugal — Cristiano Ronaldo hinted he might ask to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid, saying he agreed with FIFA president Sepp Blatter’s assertion he is being treated like a slave.
Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals last season, hasn’t asked for a transfer but has said he’d like to play for Real Madrid. He has almost four years remaining on his contract, but Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said Ronaldo isn’t for sale.
“If the player wants to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found,” Blatter said. “. . . In football there is too much modern slavery.”
Ronaldo, 23, expects to be sidelined 10-12 weeks following surgery Monday on his right ankle.
