A 62-year-old Broomfield priest has been found injured on mountain trail, nearly 30 hours after he was last seen.
The Monsignor Edward M. Hoffmann, priest of the Nativity of our Lord Church in Broomfield, was found by another hiker along the Arapahoe Pass Trail near Monarch Lake in Grand County this evening, said Broomfield police.
He had sustained a knee injury while hiking, which stranded him, but he was conscious this evening, with a rescue crew enroute to help him.
Police had been looking for him since worried parishioners called about his disappearance.
“It’s not unusual for him to go on hikes alone,” Sgt. Colleen O’Connell of the Broomfield Police Department, said this afternoon, before the Monsignor was found.
“But it is unusual for him to miss appointments and is unusual for him to not check in with people.”
He often hikes at Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness area and the Fraser Valley, police said.
