Greeley Mayor Ed Clark is awaiting a decision on whether he will be charged for allegedly attacking a 15-year-old boy last month.

The Larimer district attorney’s office is continuing its investigation into the June 23 incident, said spokeswoman Linda Jensen.

“The earliest we’ll know is the end of the week,” Jensen said.

A Weld County judge on Monday continued a hearing to decide whether a restraining order issued against Clark should be made permanent.

On June 23, Clark told Tim Stitt’s 15-year-old son to quit riding his motorbike in the Eagle Ridge subdivision park and ordered him off it.

When Stitt’s son refused, Clark — a former Greeley police officer — grabbed the teen, threw him to the ground and held him there with his hands behind his back before police arrived, Stitt said.

Stitt then sought a restraining order against Clark.

Clark also was working this summer as a special investigator for the Weld County district attorney. Because of that affiliation, the case was turned over to the Larimer District Attorney.

Clark is on a leave of absence from that job until a decision has been made on charges in the incident.
