About 600 Xcel customers in Douglas County were without power this morning as temperatures climbed into the 90s.

The outage ran from Peoria to Jordan, and between Lincoln and West Parker, according to Xcel spokesman Tom Henley.

Residents first reported the outage around 8:30 a.m. It was resolved around 2:30 p.m., Henley said.

Despite temperatures in the high 90s this week, Xcel does not expect to approach record usage, Henley said.

Thursday’s demand fell about 600 megawatts short of last summer’s peak on July 24th.

A megawatt can power about 750 homes.
