ALBANY, N.Y. — Disgraced former Gov. Eliot Spitzer has refunded $1.5 million in campaign contributions since resigning March 17 amid a prostitution scandal, a little less than half the $3.3 million his re-election committee had in the first half of the year, according to campaign filings released Tuesday.

Individuals getting money back included hedge-fund investor George Fox, who received $2,000 out of $10,000 donated in the past year and a half. Spitzer allegedly used Fox’s name to register at a hotel to meet a prostitute.
