DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche will open its 13th season in Denver by hosting the Boston Bruins on Oct. 9 at the Pepsi Center.
Highlights of the Avs’ schedule released Thursday include a visit by Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 10 and an eight-game homestand from Jan. 16-Feb. 5, the second longest in Avalanche history.
The NHL’s adjusted schedule has the Avalanche facing each of the Eastern Conference teams at least once. The Avs’ home slate features all five Northeast Division teams, including Montreal and Toronto. The Avs will play home-and-home against Atlanta, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.
Colorado will face its division rivals six times each and the other Western Conference teams four times each.
The Avs have a six-game trip from Feb. 20-March 2, matching the club’s longest trip since moving to Denver.
They open their six-game exhibition schedule against Los Angeles on Sept. 24 at the Pepsi Center.
