A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man to death during an argument early this morning outside a Denver restaurant, authorities say.

Michael Cecil, 30, is being held for investigation of murder, said Sharon Hahn, Denver police spokeswoman.

“It was just an argument between two people, and one stabbed the other,” Hahn said. “Unfortunately, someone has died.”

Police were called to the Goosetown Bar at 3242 E. Colfax Ave. at about 1:50 a.m., Hahn said. The stabbing happened outside the bar in a parking lot between the bar and Mezcal, a Mexican restaurant.

Cecil is a bartender at Mezcal, said Jesse Morreale, managing partner of the restaurant. He said he does not know anything about the circumstances of the stabbing.

The victim was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Hahn said. The Denver Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy and notify family members about the death, she said.

Cecil was charged last year with reckless driving and “speed contest.”
