OAKLAND, Calif. — The Athletics on Thursday traded right-hander Joe Blanton, a 14-game winner last season, to the Phillies for three minor-leaguers — left-hander Josh Outman, second baseman Adrian Cardenas and outfielder Matt Spencer.

Footnotes.

The Diamondbacks acquired first baseman Tony Clark from the Padres for minor-league pitcher Evan Scribner.

• First baseman Richie Sexson and the Yankees reached a deal a week after the Mariners cut the slumping slugger.

• Hideo Nomo, who pitched two no-hitters, including one against the Rockies at Coors Field in 1996, announced his retirement. Nomo, 39, finished with a 123-109 record and a 4.24 ERA.

• Mariners left-hander Erik Bedard (shoulder) likely will not pitch early next week against Boston as originally hoped.

• Red Sox slugger David Ortiz (wrist) went 1-for-3 with a homer and walk in his rehab debut, helping Pawtucket (R.I.) defeat Toledo (Ohio) 15-6.

• Tim Lincecum is slated to start Sunday for the Giants against Milwaukee as planned, even after the right-hander missed Tuesday’s All-Star Game with flulike symptoms and dehydration.

• Marlins left-hander Andrew Miller will be placed on the DL retroactive to Monday with right knee tendinitis.

• Reds infielder Jerry Hairston Jr. went on the DL with a strained hamstring. The Associated Press
