A Colorado Springs couple who allegedly sent sexually exploitative images and videos of children to people both inside and outside Colorado have been arrested in Colorado Springs, authorities said today.
U.S. Army Criminal investigators arrested the husband, Charles Brassfield, at Fort Carson where he serves in the U.S. Army, said Sgt. Mark Stevens of the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Colorado Springs Police arrested Brassfield’s wife, Jocelyn Brassfield, 21.
Stevens described Charles Brassfield, 26, as an “enlisted soldier.” Jocelyn Brassfield is not in the military.
Stevens said the arrest culminated a 4-month investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit.
The investigation began after the ICAC unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The ICAC unit plus other Colorado Springs investigators worked with the New Jersey State ICAC Task Force and developed the information that led to Charles Brassfield’s arrest, said Stevens. During the investigation, authorities learned that Jocelyn Brassfield had assisted her husband in committing the alleged crimes, Stevens added.
Charles Brassfield has been arrested for investigation of sexual exploitation of children, a class three felony.
Jocelyn Brassfield was arrested for investigation of accessory to a crime (sexual exploitation of children), a class five felony.
