The winner: Edward Hocker, Colorado Springs:
This is the “new cafe,” built in the 1980s by the Cranor family, an institution in these parts. The patriarch, Sherman, who built the Trading Post in the ’30s, was a real mountain character in his trademark overalls and flannel shirts, always ready to share a story. This article has been corrected in this online archive. Originally, due to a reporting error, it gave the wrong name for the patriarch of the Cranor family. His name was Sherman Cranor.
