Although manager Clint Hurdle said Sunday there were lingering concerns about Troy Tulowitzki’s approach at the plate, Tulowitzki looked pretty good Monday night in his first big-league game since slicing his right hand when he shattered a bat in frustration on July 4. Tulo stroked a single to left in the second inning for the Rockies’ first hit of the game. In the fourth, he blasted a double over Dodgers center fielder Andruw Jones and came around to score. Tulo finished the game 5-for-5, tied for most hits by a Rockie this season.

Francis’ line.

Making his first rehab start for Double-A Tulsa on Monday night, left-hander Jeff Francis pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Francis, coming back from a tender shoulder, is expected to make at least one more minor-league start before returning to the Rockies.
