A federal grand jury has indicted a Monument man on charges that he tried to bribe an IRS agent.
Edward Sobczewski, 47, is accused of asking the agent to change his 2006 personal tax audit in exchange for Colorado Rockies season tickets.
Sobczewski was arrested Wednesday and will be advised of the charges against him in U.S. District Court in Denver this morning, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
If convicted, Sobczewski faces up to 15 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine for each of four counts.
U.S. Attorney for Colorado Troy Eid said, “The message is simple: Don’t even think about bribing an IRS agent with Rockies tickets or anything else.”
